Architectural Department – University of Roma Tre. Roma Tre University offers a wide range of graduate and post-graduate courses (about 70 degree courses, 22 PhDs, and 80 post degree courses). The university is a member of UNICA Network. UNISCAPE, EUA, and involved, either as the coordinator or as a partner, in around 80 International Research projects. Its Architecture Department has a longstanding research path on public space and engagement of communities, with a special care for the intersection with heritage (H2020 Open Heritage consortium partner and H2020 SoPHIA Project Leader). The Department is currently engaged in UIA We-z, emotional WEllbeing of generation Z: reconnecting communities and spaces through imperfect health, and Laboratorio di Città Corviale, a research/action project regarding the largest public housing unit in Italy.

URBAN 2020 is a non-governmental organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Romanian and European cities through urban planning, smart development, and social innovation. Participation in projects such as YPlan and SPADES demonstrate its experience in urban planning and spatial strategies, providing valuable insights and methodologies for the development of sustainable urban environments. URBAN2020’s involvement in projects like EUthMappers, highlights its expertise in communication, stakeholder engagement and environmental civic engagement among youth. Through its collaborative approach and commitment to fostering partnerships between the public sector, academia, and private entities, URBAN2020 is poised to contribute effectively to advancement of sustainable urban development practices.

Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences
The LCSS hosts the Institute of Sociology (LCSS IS) as one of its branches. As a public legal entity functioning as a state budget institution, LCSS SI conducts long-term research and experimental development in the social and cultural spheres, which are crucial for the State, society, international cooperation, and economic entities. Additionally, the institute serves as a training ground for doctoral students in Sociology. The mission of the Institute is to analyze socio-economic, political, and demographic processes, aiming to assist governmental and private sector clients in making well-informed, research-based decisions. Through close collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, academic and research institutions nationally and internationally, public and private entities, and social partners, the Institute seeks to support decisionmakers across a wide range of social issues and contribute to the enhancement of the education and research community. Moreover, the LCSS IS serves as a focal point for contemplating how research and analysis should adapt in response to rapid social changes. It regularly disseminates new methodologies and insights through scientific journals and international conferences.

MRI – budapest, hU
Metropolitan Research Institute
MRI is a private research company established in 1989. Its staff consists of researchers, with Master or PhD degrees in economics, sociology, or history. MRI’s work focuses on urban development, housing policy, local governance, energy policies and comparative research of European cities and welfare states. MRI undertakes research and consultancy, organizes international conferences, and designs and provides training in these areas with and for local governments, ministries and other governmental bodies, universities and research institutions, EU institutions, and international organizations. MRI is an experienced researcher and coordinator of European projects. Currently, it coordinates ReHousIn (2024 – 2027), a Horizon Europe project focusing on housing affordability in times of energy transition, while it recently finished coordinating OpenHeritage (2018-2022) and UPLIFT (2020 – 2023) that provided in-depth research in the fields of urban development and adaptive heritage reuse, as well as patterns and trends of inequality in Europe, with a special emphasis on youth.

IGOT is integrated into the University of Lisbon. The research area has been developed by the Center of Geographical Studies (CEG). The CEG develops research organised in various topics of which we highlight the “Modelling, Urban and Regional Planning” research group. IGOT integrates two thematic interdisciplinary networks of the ULisbon related with the Call: “Smart Urban Mobility” (redeMOV) and “Health” (redeSAÚDE), including a specific group working on “Ageing”. The IGOT team members have large experience in spatial research on different topics and at different scales such as land use changes, urbanisation models and mobility, and is experienced in the field of spatial analysis, including the evaluation of the accessibility to daily-facilities, children and elderly services, identifying the driving forces linked

The Research Centre on Geodemographic and Territorial Analysis (RCGTA) was established in 2006, within the Department of Human and Economic Geography at Faculty of Geography/ University of Bucharest. It is an academic structure created to carry out practically oriented research, aimed at understanding how social practices and relations are conditioned by space and place. The core of its scientific interest lays on the interactions between society, territorial planning, governance and the environment, underpinning some of the challenging issues facing the landscape and human society.

ADIZMB – Bucharest, ro
Bucharest Metropolitan Area Intercommunity Development Association
ADIZMB was established in 2008, as a partnership between Bucharest Mayor’s Office and the llfov County Council, to contribute to a more strategic development in the metropolitan area, focusing on issues of planning and mobility. ADIZMB implements projects especially with a metropolitan character, infrastructure, education, environment projects and the association is involved in the activities related to urban and territorial planning. The association also follows and gets involved in the development of integrated development strategies at the level of the metropolitan area. The organization is a member of METREX (The Network of European Metropolitan Regions and Areas), trying to have an active role at European level, in defining the role and competences of metropolitan partnership, formal or informal, as Regions develop better with the help of strong cities and strong Metropolitan Areas. The association is involved in the implementation of transnational and European projects like Interreg Europe Programme, Danube Transnational Programme, URBACT. ADIZMB has joined the Civinet Romania network – dedicated to cities in Romania, with the goal of exchanging experiences and best practices in the field of sustainable urban mobility. The urban Planning and Mobility Department is also managing projects like the Urban Observatory, creation of data bases for the metropolitan area, coordinating and co-creating projects of urban planning and mobility in Bucharest.

Department IV – “Strategic Planning and Spatial Government” of Città metropolitana di Roma have competencies in spatial planning functions for the metropolitan territory, specifically for urban and mobility planning. By Law 56/14 it’s in charge of (1) the Metropolitan General Territorial Plan concerning communication facilities, service and infrastructure networks and also setting constraints and objectives to planning activities of municipalities (2) the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility (PUMS). Moreover, Città metropolitana is responsible for the overall Strategic Plan, aimed to foster the development of the entire metropolitan area, rebalancing territorites and improving the quality of life of its communities. Its strategies are anchored to the theme of sustainability and the goals of the UN Agenda 2030.

Commission for Regional Development and coordination of Lisbon and Tagus Valley
The Portuguese cooperation partner is the CCDR Lisboa and Vale do Tejo (CCDRLVT) that corresponds to a deconcentrated regional entity of which competences are the land use planning, environment and cohesion policy implementation. It covers a territory of 52 municipalities, which includes Lisbon city, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and other periurban behind territories. In 2021, the resident population in the Region was 3,6 Millions, which corresponds to 36% of the Portuguese population. The region is polycentric, leaded by Lisbon city (550 thousands inhab.), but complemented by dense suburbs in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (LMA, 2,7 Million), where between a city network there are extended low-density areas based on a small and medium sized cities sparsely distributed in industrial and agricultural activities. The region is heterogeneous in terms of infrastructures, employment and transportation.

Vilnius City Administration is the representative authority of the municipality of Vilnius. It aims to foster a high quality of life for its inhabitants through forming policy, strategy and urban planning initiatives. Vilnius municipality aims to provide social and transport infrastructure, oversee urban development trends. It aims to inform urban planning decisions with data and research and is keen to experiment with implementing pilot projects.
